Since 2020, Karma's Health Fund has helped 223 people access life-changing healthcare, but there’s more to do.
Access to healthcare, especially prenatal and maternal care, is one of the biggest challenges. Women often travel up to two hours by motorbike to reach a clinic, facing high transport costs, expensive medical supplies, and facilities with no clean water, electricity, or reliable medicine. These delays have sometimes led to devastating outcomes, including pregnancy loss.
The closest clinic for many people in the communities is in Sahun. As you’ll see from these photos, facilities are basic. Many women are delivering their babies without electricity or running water. No woman, anywhere, should have to face this.
The communities are calling for a clinic in Kambama to serve six surrounding villages, providing safer, more accessible healthcare for women, children and the wider community.
